About Sifu Yao

Jane Yao (Yao Pei Ching) is a renowned teacher of Hao and Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan, Ba Gua Zhang, and Chi Gong. Sifu Yao has over 60 years experience in internal arts, with more than half of that time spent studying Tai Chi Chuan and Ba Gua Zhang full time with many of China's finest masters.

Sifu Yao lived, studied, and taught in Shanghai where many of her students won honors at the top 5 Shanghai Tai Chi Push-hands contests. Delegations of the Japanese Tai Chi Chuan Association frequently visited Shanghai to receive her instruction.

Sifu Yao moved to San Francisco in 1986, where she became an active member of the American Chinese Chi Gong Association and continues to serve as a consultant and master instructor. She led the San Francisco Martial Arts Delegation to the 2nd Overseas Chinese Martial Arts tournament in Los Angeles and won first place awards for both Tai Chi Push-hands and individual Tai Chi performance.

Two of her American students attended the World Cup International Martial Arts Championships and won the Overall Internal Grand Champion by performing Ba Gua Zhang. She is frequently a judge at various competitions in the San Francisco area and elsewhere.

Sifu Yao teaches all beginning students the Wu Jien Chuan form. The Wu Jien Chuan is a modification of the long-form Wu Yu Hsiang style and box set and rapidly builds internal energy. By learning the Wu Jien Chuan form first, a basic training foundation is established. The student then may move on to Wu Jien Chuan Tai Chi, Liu Feng Chun Bagua Zhang, or Tai Chi sword.
